Commissioned by GCHA housing association, Tom was involved in actively consulting the residents of a small housing estate in Northfleet, Kent. With residents help the team established the story of the life of the estate; what works, what could be better, where the dead guinea pigs are buried, the quickest shortcut to town [the important stuff!]

What came out of the consultation was that the estate has a lot of positives. The program is therefor one of subtle interventions; closing off in places [improved security], opening up in others [improved legibility], clear thresholds between private and public [defined front garden spaces and terraces] and private amenity  [balconies for flats].

Working with cost consultants, the estate plans are being revised and reviewed for implementation within GCHA's capital expenditure program.
